The Many Kinds of Garden Statuary
Today there are many choices of concrete garden statues for the gardener. Concrete is more popular then brass (more expensive and can tarnish), or stone (more expensive). Compared to Brass, Concrete is also much more durable. Concrete statuary is very cost effective, and can be found and purchased at almost every home center there is.
Before you even begin to place these statues in your garden, you'll want to plan out where to place them and the number you want to add. For some folks a huge statue of budda looks great, for others it will make your garden look odd and "off balance".  In a smaller garden too much statuary will make your garden seem over crowded, so be sure to put the right amount of features in your garden. You should also (if you haven't already), come up with a theme for your garden, and stick to it.
For a religious gardener there are some different options to choose from. From statues of the Virgin Mary and crosses, to cherubs and monks. Some are painted and some are not. You will have to do a little bit of hunting for such statues, and they can be sometimes harder to find. Adding these statues to your garden can help display your faith and personalize your garden.
There are many other choices as well to choose from, Japanese to Irish, Fantasy, wildlife and many more. Another very popular choice is bird baths. They are inexpensive (for concrete), very easy to place and set up and attract beautiful birds to your yard and gardens. Bird baths can be easily purchased from your local home center or ordered off the internet. be prepared for a wonderful day of bird watching and sipping on your favorite beverage!
After selecting the statue, placement is key. Statues should be placed in such a way as to compliment your garden, not distract from it. Place them as a centerpiece in larger gardens. The can also be placed on decks, around and in garden ponds and water falls. Perhaps a figure in the middle of a fountain? Wherever you choose, research the best options. Enjoy!
